One of 1,970 pieces, this watch is based on the ‘Alaska II’ project which used a ‘standard’ Speedmaster with a modified dial and hands, in conjunction with an outer anodised aluminium ‘thermal shield’. Allowing the watch to withstand temperatures from -148 to 260 degrees, and to be used for further Apollo missions. Both the watch and extra Apollo missions were eventually cancelled, but the former was finally released to the public in this form in 2008.
