Produced for only 4 years between 1985 and 1989 the 16550 is often referred to as a transitional model and is highly prized by collectors. The 16550 is a significant milestone in the history of explorer watches, pioneering the introduction of a 40mm case, sapphire crystal, and an advanced automatic cal 3085 movement with a higher beat. Notably, it also introduces the white dial to the lineup. This stunning example features its original dial, where the lume has aged to a warm creamy color, and the hands have also aged a few shades lighter than the dial. The bezel and case are in excellent condition. The watch comes equipped with a later 93150 Oyster bracelet. Complete with original box, UK papers, swing tag, Rolex service papers, wallet, and booklets. 12-month warranty.
